Marc Cameron - 5th Year at Ramapo
Coach Marc Cameron makes his return to Coach McBreen’s staff after a seven-season absence working in the private sector. Cameron’s desire to get back into coaching, his loyalty, and his commitment to Coach McBreen is what has brought him back for the 2010-2011 season. Coach Cameron was an assistant on Coach McBreen’s staff from 1999 until 2003.
During his tenure, coach Cameron helped turn the Roadrunners into a National Power. In Cameron’s first year on the staff, the Roadrunners finished with a record of 15-10, and qualified for the ECAC Tournament, which is Division III’s version of the NIT. This was Ramapo’s first trip to compete in post-season play, since 1991. In Cameron’s third season, the program began to reach new heights. In 2001-2002, the Roadrunners finished in a three-way tie for first place in the NJAC Conference, with a record of 12-6, and finished with an overall record of 21-8. At the time, that 21-8 record was the second best record in Ramapo history. The Roadrunners capped off their season by winning the ECAC Tournament Championship. This was the first ECAC Championship in Ramapo basketball history.
Cameron helped Coach McBreen and the Roadrunners reach even greater heights in 2002-2003. That year, the team won the NJAC Conference regular season with a record of 17-1, winning 17 consecutive games, and finishing with an overall record of 26-4, all school records. The team advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, which was the farthest any Ramapo team had gone in the NCAA Tournament since the 1991 team reached the Final Four.
During his first go at Ramapo, Cameron also served as the Assistant Director of Intramurals, and was Coach McBreen’s assistant with the women’s tennis program. Cameron also was the Assistant Director of the Chuck McBreen Basketball Camp held at Ramapo College, while working as a staff member of the prestigious Eastern Invitational and Five-Star Basketball camps.
